This is the first Lehigh River Dam Release of the year and with the lack of local whitewater I would expect alot of other boaters on the river. Decided to keep it simple for this first trip and do the Upper section (White Haven to Rockport).

Forecast Release = 800cfs the recent rain will have the dam topped off(pool elevation = 1370') by Thursday afternoon so the release will be 800cfs as called for in the 2012 plan.

See next post for all the details and some links of interest.

Upper Lehigh (White Haven to Rockport)
Date: Saturday - May 12, 2012
Time: 10:00am
Place: White Haven Putin
Expected Release Level: 800cfs

If interested in this trip please post here, send me an e-mail (rebjsw@epix.net) or call my home phone (717-365-3167).
If you need to contact me the day of the trip I should have my cell turned on (717-512-2824).

Many Harrisburg area boaters meet at the Wilco Truck Stop (exit 77) off I-81 at 8:15 to consolidate boats and gear and carpool from that location. Anyone looking to carpool from Wilco please post here on the messageboard so all can see and coordinate carpooling.

We will meet at the putin by 10:00am, drop boats, gear, get ready and run shuttle at approx 10:20am. This should put us on the water by 11:00am.
The run should take approximately 4 hours so it's a good idea to pack a bit of food and water for the trip.
Approximately 2 hours into the run we usually make a short stop to eat and stretch legs at the bottom of Ledges Rapid (2nd Lunch, as some may know it), where there is a very popular surfing wave. You can use the time to relax, eat and watch, or play on the wave.

I'll probably join you guys. I sustained an injury this weekend boating so I need an easy weekend. I know Adam and Dave will be there as well.

Chris,

I saw Ed Powers asking on FB if anyone from the Carlisle area was going. I relayed your above message to him on CCGH FB page.

Vern,

Yes... Saturday is the only release day the first weekend. That is per the plan and traditionally the first release weekend has been a one day affair for at least the past few years. Many times the first release falls on Mother's Day weekend so they don't want to give anyone any excuses not to visit Mom on Sunday !!  Wink
