A post got started under "general discussion" about a month ago and took on a life of it's own. It would have been a pain to get it moved over to "Scheduled Trips/Events" so I'm starting this post simply for the purpose of posting this link to get to that general discussion posting where you will find all the info for this trip.

I'm still looking for some company (and to help split the cost Wink ) Friday night on the group site (#229)

And also if anyone is getting there early enough that may want to do a loop run I'll be there around noon on Friday to meet someone (I hope) that wants to buy the Project X48.

Neil,

I'm running into a little problem for Saturday. I'm meeting someone to try to sell Jill's playboat. Originally this was to happen Friday which would have worked out just great. Now it looks like he can't make it until Saturday and probably not until noon. I'm asking him if he can't get there a bit earlier but I'm not counting on that since he is driving up that morning from Ashville, NC.

I take it from your above post that if you are running shuttle at 10:30 you would be getting on around the start of the 11 o'clock hour. I'm hoping to be able to get on shortly after 12 after selling a boat and catch up to everyone.. maybe by the time the group is taking a lunch break at Swimmers.

If that doesn't work out I'll just have to sit in the sun, watch all the boaters, work on my tan  Wink and settle for a Sunday run with the then "second timers" and everyone else !! LOL !!!  Cheesy

As of right now it looks like I have to work Saturday and Sunday this weekend.  Who do I owe for the passes and/or campsite?  Neil?  If my employment status changes I'll be there otherwise I need to eat.

Don't worry about the passes or camping. Camping will be divided up among the people showing up. I'll try to sell extra passes at the put in.

Great pictures Mike. Always fun to look back and remember the trip.

Mike and I arrived around noon on Friday and did a Loop run. When were were done and changed into dry clothes we ran into Marybeth and Neil. They had shown up unexpectedly and they got on and ran a loop run also so Marybeth could get in some boat time before the full run on Saturday.

Mike and I headed out to set up camp on the group site Neil had reserved for everyone. Well when we checked in they told us that we were going to be on site #229 Friday night and then have to move our stuff to site #230 for Saturday. Huh ? Say What ? I tried my best to talk them into working out what was obviously a mix up but it was no use. Saturday morning we picked up our tents and stuff and moved them to the other site as the group that was there was clearing out.

Just a word about the group sites. Very nice. Lots of small flat areas to set up tents. It cost each of us about $5 a night since each night we split the $31 a night fee between 5 or 6 people.

I was very sorry I had to miss Saturday's run. I was really looking forward to being along on Marybeth and Ian's fiirst time down the LY... instead I was stuck at the putin waiting on a buyer for Jill's Project X who was to show up around 11:30, (that I could have dealt with and possibly puton after the group and caught up by the end of the loop) but he ran into some money problems and didn't show up until around 1. Too late for me to want to chance getting on and maybe not catching the group. So I missed it. I got to hear all about it over dinner at the Fall's City Pub that night.

BTW MB and Ian did great. Grin

Sunday's run went well. We got on early and ran the river with a small group of about 7. We picked up a buddy for Mike Moyer to play with at the end of hte loop. He needed a group and a ride back from the takeout after his original boating partner bailed on him. He was in a JK Rockstar so since he was a Jackson fan he was accepted into our group without question !!! HA !!

We got on early, around 9:30, and that allowed us to get in a good run and still get headed for home by 2:30 which got us home with some time to unpack.

Another great LY trip in the books.

I just wanted to chime in and  thank all involved with this trip.

Ian had a grand time and I truly appreciate all of you who took the time to mentor him. He was totally jazzed when we got off the river and then promptly slept the whole drive home. His football coach is cranky I got him to play in the water this with us over the weekend, I told the coach he can have him the rest of the season. Maybe  Wink

Simply an outstanding time!

Does his face look like a face that is ready to quit for the year?  Grin

Stu,
It was a pleasure paddling with you and Ian on Saturday. Ian seems like a good kid and is going to be a great paddler someday.

Thanks to the veteran paddlers for all your help and support leading Ian and me down the Lower Yough on the First Timers trip.  I heard so many good things about Tim Schwartz and sorry I didn't get to meet/paddle with him.  Phil, Neil, Mark, John Guetter, and Mike Moyer did a great job explaining Tim's lines and the 3-4-5 rule.  Had fun with the boofs and splats you threw in for "extra points".  Glad we got through "Killer Falls" in one piece too!  Whew!!  Shocked

To sum it up... another great trip, day, river, and paddle buddies!

Missed Rick on the First Timers trip and glad you sold Jill's boat and could paddle the 2nd Timers trip.

Thanks for the great photos Mike and good to see you got everyone, for I only got a few pics on this trip...
