This is a Youghiogeny “Pick Your Own Adventure” weekend. July 15th-17th.
Whether you know it or not there is a lot to love about the little town of Ohiopyle! There is rafting, kayaking, spelunking, hiking and biking, oh my! It doesn’t matter if your looking for a dry land or watery adventure this place has got you covered. There are a variety companies that do guided rafting trips or ducky trips….
If you are looking to get your own kayak on the water? There are guidied trips, you can run your own shuttle or even utilize a paid shuttle service on any of these local runs….

Looking for something a little more dark, dank, and underground? Check out Laurel Caverns. They have different tours from a walking tour to a spelunking tour.
Looking for some dry land adventures? There are hikes galore for all types of hikers from the novice to the pros. You can take the well groomed short trail to Cucumber Falls from the Cucumber Falls parking lot, the beautiful Ferncliff Trail from the Loop parking lot, check out the waterfalls along Jonathan Run Trail or try any one of the other dozens of beautiful hiking trails around Ohiopyle.
You want to get your bike on? There is a beautiful portion of the Allegheny Passage that runs along the river that is easily accessible from Ohiopyles old train station parking lot.

There are plenty of other options and lots of food and excitement to be had. This is the the tip of the adventure iceberg so to speak. No formal plans, this is a make your own adventure weekend, but Jim McDonald and Megan Barrick will be camping at the Kentuck Campground all weekend and plan to run the Lower Yough in their kayaks Friday, July 15th and the Loop run July 17th ready to run shuttle at 10:00am both those days. See below for more information. Anyone can feel free to join in or make their own adventure you are your own master. Unfortunately the group campsites were already all snatched up so you are responsible for your own lodging arrangements and everything else this weekend.
July 15th – Ready to run shuttle at 10:00am. Lower Yough section of the Youghiogeny River from Ohiopyle to Bruner Run. This is a 7.2 mile stretch of solid Class 3 whitewater with 20 rapids. You need to have your own gear, solid class 3 boating skills, and it’s recommended you have a roll, cause swims can be long and rocky. Trip Leader Megan Barrick.
July 17th – ready to run shuttle at 10:00am. Loop portion of the Lower Yough. Includes 6 rapids and hauling your boat up the loop take out Trail back to your car at the loop parking lot. Trip Leader Megan Barrick.
