CCGH members,
The first Fiddlers Elbow Slalom was held in the fall of 1975. While we have missed a couple of years to bad (as in “really bad”) weather we are celebrating this as our 40th Fiddlers Elbow. We are ramping up now to make this a big event.
So you think you know how to paddle? If you do, come out and show us how its done. In the past few years CCGH has acquired a raft of new paddlers, some who think they are pretty good and some who are trying strenuously to improve as rapidly as possible (and doing quite well I might add). If you want to learn something new and are not afraid of a challenge sign up for the Fiddlers Elbow Slalom on September 24-25, 2016. You don’t need a race boat. We have a special class for plastic play boats. Judging from what I see on the river we might have to call it the “Fun” class. If you paddle something else come out and have fun beating all the Funs (if you think you can). We also now have a genuine double rectified race boat you can try if you can fit in it.
To keep it fair we have separate classes for men and women. I will let the women race with the men if you want to.
Seriously, I think all you paddle jocks and jockettes should come out and challenge each other to see what you can do. We will make it an event within the event. A club challenge. Fiddlers Elbow is for beginning racers. We need more participation from our own club members. I guarantee you will have fun and learn something new that improves your skill set. Last year’s attainment race was a success. We will do it again this year. Start at the bottom and race upstream. Do you want that with gates or without?Check the CCGH website for more info: http://www.ccghpa.com/fiddlers-elbow-race/
