Florida Week(s) of Rivers is back for 2024.
After a longer than anticipated break the Florida Week(s) of Rivers paddling trip is coming back in 2024. We are starting the planning now in hopes of getting into one or more campgrounds that are popular and book up quickly.
The primary week will be an old favorite – Rodman Campground, 17 March 2024 through 23 March, depart on the 24th This will give us access to the big springs in the Ocala area – Silver Spring, Alexander Spring, Juniper Creek, Rainbow River and more.
We will also include optional weeks before and after the primary week. The before option is Hillsborough River State Park, 10 March through 16 March – depart on the 17th. Paddling options include: Hillsborough River, Weeki Wachee River, Alafia River, Little Manatee and Manatee Rivers, Terra Ceia Preserve State Park and more.
The after option is Blackwater River State Park (Pensacola area), 24 March through 29 March, depart on 30 March (stay longer or less as desired. For those returning to PA this allows for departure on Saturday and arrival home on Sunday. Paddling options include Perdido River, Blackwater River, Shoal River, Juniper Creek, coastal paddling in the Pensacola area, and more.
The campgrounds listed are Florida State Parks. Reservations can be made 11 months in advance. We recommend that you make reservations as soon as they open up, i.e. 11 months prior. You should be able to book sites for 10 through 16 March 2024 at Hillsborough River SP starting on 10 April 2023.
If you have questions email me or post on the message board. For the tent campers sharing sites is encouraged, so post on the message board if you have space for a tenter on your site or are looking to share a site. Please let us know if and when you are coming, we will keep an updated list in the message board.
