    CCGH 2018 Trip Thoughts

With 2018 just around the corner, given how fast time seems to fly by at this time of year with all the Holiday activities and events, I wanted to get this out early.

Once again I’m asking everyone to give some thought about the 2018 season over the next 2 months, counting down to the annual Training and Trip Planning Meeting usually held around mid to late January every year.

We NEED your feedback about trips you’d like to see on the 2018 schedule. Your input makes the job of planning and scheduling much easier and helps get trips on the schedule that members will enjoy.

I’d like to ask for everyone’s feedback. Even if you don’t want to organize a trip I’d still like to hear from you. Any ideas you have about any, and all, types of trips. Lakes, flatwater, easy moving water or whitewater. Boating/Camping trips.

And of course, we also need to hear from those in the club that DO want to organize trips. If you’ve got trips in mind for 2018 let’s hear about them and if possible get some rough(or not so rough) timeframes on paper to help with the planning for next season.

Prior to the planning meeting I will be trying to verify 2018 dam release dates and other event dates that we need to plan around. I can also use help from the membership in that task. If you see any info posted about dam release dates or event dates that we traditionally use for planning purposes, please pass those along.

Looking forward to a great 2018 paddling season !

Muddy creek and Holtwood whitewater park come to mind. Not sure what levels the Muddy is runnable at, or release dates for the Holtwood.

I corrected the date for the Red Moshannon Downriver Race, from March 24, to the correct date of March 31, in the above post.

I already have the probable Lehigh release dates as listed on Whitewater Challengers site.

2018 Lehigh River Whitewater Dam Release Dates:

      May 12, 19, 26-27
      June 9-10, 23-24
      July 7-8, 21-22, 28-29
      August 4-5, 11-12, 18-19, 25-26
      September 1-2
      October 6-7

      As well as:
Tohickon dates of March 17-18 & November 3-4
Good Friday(Nescopeck) date of March 30 this year
Red Moshannon Race date of March 31
