Conodoguinet Creek Saturday, April 9, 2022

NOTE: The meet-up time for this trip has been changed so participants can go directly to the CCGH social gathering on City Island.

Carlisle to Willow Mill Park, Mechanicsburg. 10 Miles, Class I. Meet at Letort Falls Park, 100 North Middlesex Road, Carlisle, PA at 1:00 PM, shuttle at 1:15 PM.

Conodoguinet Creek is a tributary of the Susquehanna River starting in the mountains in the general vicinity of Fort Louden PA. The creek flows 104 miles to the Susquehanna River at Wormleysberg, a straight line distance of only seventy miles: Conodoguinet is the Native American name and means “A Long Way with Many Bends”.

The section between Letort Falls and Willow Mill Park is a CCGH favorite. While there are still a few dams on the Conodoguinet we will not encounter any on this trip. The scenery is good and there is a riffle at Bernheisel Bridge, which carries the Appalachian Trail over the Conodoguinet.

Contact trip coordinator, Howard Davis, at davishoward277@gmail.com if you are participating. Heavy rain, high water, etc. may postpone. Bring lunch or snacks. Plan on about 3 hours on the water. All participants are to be familiar with the Canoe Trip Guidelines contained in the CCGH 2021 Club Handbook, pages 14 thru 18
