The first Florida Week of Rivers was a great success. We had 11 paddlers and we paddled 5 rivers. We left on Friday 10 March, overnighted in Savannah and arrived at the first campground on Saturday afternoon. On Sunday we paddled a section of the Suwannee River and camped at O’Leno State Park. Monday morning we moved to Ross Prairie State Park, set up camp (while it was still dry) and then paddled Rainbow River. On subsequent days we paddled Juniper Creek, Silver River, and Crystal River / Three Sisters Springs – to see the manatees. Relative to PA the temps were great, in the 60s during the day and 40s at night. We did have two nights with temps around 32. The rivers were outstanding and each day was better than the last ending with a paddle with 40 plus manatees warming in the spring. Already planning a trip for next March to paddle rivers a little further south. Here are some pictures from this trip. Just click on the first photo and then use the arrows on the right and left of the picture to move through the photos. To see more pictures and hear more about the trip come to the club program in September or October.
