FRANKSTOWN BRANCH JUNIATA RIVER
Saturday, May 13, 2017We are looking for a few good women and men who want to paddle a really beautiful stream on Saturday, May 13. Quoting our friend Ed Gertler, it on a stream that has a “more remote route, often away from any roads. It can be a quiet and somber passage . . . hidden away in the dark forest. . . . count on lots of riffles and easy rapids to brighten up the run”. The Frankstown Branch of the Juniata starts near Hollidaysburg in Blair County and flows about forty miles where it merges with Raystown Branch of the Juniata just southeast of Huntingdon, PA. The May 13 trip will approximately 13 miles starting at Williamsburg, and taking out near Alexandria, just west of Huntingdon. There is a really nice bike trail that generally parallels the stream.
The meet-up time and location will be determined once I see who is participating. Please contact Howard Davis canoetrip@pa.net if you plan to participate or if you have any questions.
