This trip is a follow-up to the June 3rd Kayak Level 1 class. We’ll put-in at Juniata River Access Site #6 which is called ‘Green Valley’ and paddle to Access Site #2, Amity Hall. Total distance is about 4 miles. There are some river wide ledges along the way. The put-in is a private campground and has a $5 launch fee ($2 for students from the June 3 level 1 class). All boats need PFBC launch permits for the take-out.

We will meet at 10:00 am at the put-in and probably get off the water around 3:00 pm.

      Put-in is:
      #6 Green Valley Surfaced Ramp Lat. 40 28 45 Lon. 77 03 17
From Rt. 22/322 West, Midway exit, left off ramp, right onto Juniata Pkwy., campground on left. From Rt 22/322 East, Newport exit, left off ramp onto Rt. 34, left onto Shortcut Rd., left onto Juniata Pkwy., campground on right. River left. 344 Juniata Parkway East.

      Take out is:
      #2 Amity Hall PFBC-Surfaced Ramp Lat. 40 25 51 Lon. 77 00 48
From Rt. 22/322 East, Amity Hall exit, left from ramp onto River Rd. (T572), or from Rt. 22/322 West, left at bottom of ramp, right onto River Rd (T572). River left.

Everyone is welcome to join us but please note that we won’t be paddling straight through to the take-out. We will stop and practice self rescue skills and for anyone that wants to, we’ll try some river moves (eddy turns, peel-outs and ferries) in the faster currents around the ledges.
