No takers yet … Jill and I are going to get the ducky wet for the first time on Saturday for a little practice with it in preparation for Jill’s first time down the LY (with me in the ducky) next Friday the 14th with the CCGH rafting contingent that weekend.
If you are coming let us know. Otherwise we will just plan to do a bike shuttle.

      Hi Rick

I would like to go. Will be at Glen Onoko at 9. Unless I hear anything differantly.

I would like to come along on Saturday.

This would be my first decent down this section but not knowing this section or the ‘release amount’ I will let you advise if you think that I would be fine.

      Thanks, Kathy

OK … I got everyone on the list that replied here on the mb in the last day or so, plus a couple others I’ve heard from now. So we will be meeting at Glen Onoko in the small paved lot closest to the takeout. If that lot is full we will just swing around the back to the bus parking area and organize the shuttle there, if need be. Arrive early enough to be ready to shuttle by 9:15am.

Kathy … Yes. It’s bigger water than the Upper Lehigh. I have not boated with you in quite some time, but I think you should be OK. It’s got 4 solid class III rapids on it that are somewhat steeper and longer than anything on the Upper Lehigh section. The rest of the rapids on the Lower section are all pretty straight forward and many have easy lines. Jill and I will be in the ducky so may not be leading all the lines for kayaks but Lydia is going so you could just follow her thru most of the stuff. And water levels will be relatively low this weekend.

OK Chris. Catch up to you some other time.

Just FYI … The FEW Res rain gauge says they got about 1/2″ of rain today. But at Lehighton, below the takeout for the Lower Lehigh section we are running, they got almost 3.5″ of rain. There’s a long distance between those two gauging stations so not sure how much inflow we will have along the Lower Lehigh. I am keeping an eye on the Lehighton gauge right now. It’s on the rise. Was 600cfs yesterday and is now around 900cfs. We usually run this section above 1000cfs on the Lehighton gauge and would consider that a pretty low level. Higher levels that we’ve done this section have been 2000+cfs on the Lehighton gauge. Again I’m just mentioning this FYI.

Rick, I will not be going on Saturday now.

Hoping to catch this another time this summer.

      OK Kathy.

Just an update on levels. The Lehighton gauge reacted very little to all the precipe. It’s dropping out now. I expect a low, but fun run of the Lower Lehigh Saturday.
