Last minute Change of plans from Lower Lehigh to Nescopeck Creek see last post in this string for directions.
Added 3 more and a couple of ‘maybes’. Also heard from one or two others that ask about the trip(time & meeting place), but didn’t say whether or not they were coming.
Most likely the little paved lot will fill up fast in the morning. Its the first release weekend and if nice weather there will be bikers and hikers. That and parking around the back side of the loop reserved for outfitter buses only on release weekends.
Since many times people need a bathroom break anyway we will still try to meet and organize in the paved lot at the takeout, but if too crowded we will move to the fist closest available spaces in the gravel lots to get the shuttle organized.
Showing up earlier rather than later might get you a spot in the paved lot, if not you’ll just have a short walk to your vehicle to stretch you’re legs. 😉
A word about the weather forecast for Saturday. The forecast is for Mid 60 degrees Air temps and high winds in the 20 mile an hour range with gusts to 30. Far from ideal conditions for the 1st Lehigh release. I just wanted to let everyone know what to expect. https://m.accuweather.com/en/us/jim-thorpe-pa/18229/hourly-weather-forecast/335358?day=3
FEW has started to release 1200cfs in anticipation of the coming rain. The level at Lehighton will go to 2000cfs minimum, most likely more from inflow from tribs if we get any of the rain overnight as forecast
Sorry for the late post ..
OK calling an audible … High winds of 25 – 30 mph forecast for tomorrow. Not good conditions at all for the either section of the Lehigh. So … New Plan, just found out that Nescopeck is running at 8″ currently, probably higher in the morning if we get any of this rain forecast overnight. Still meeting at 9am, but at the put in for the Nescopeck now. I’m going to try to get in touch with everyone that said they were coming on the Lower Lehigh run.

Nescopeck Creek Directions
Directions to the put-in. Take exit 145 off I-81. Coming from the north on I-81, turn left at the light onto route 93 west heading toward Conyngham/Sybertsville. You will go three lights on route 93(about 2 miles) to a slight left turn onto N. Main Street. Continue on N. Main St. thru Sybertsille and up the hill. Continue on and you will cross the creek in about 1 mile. The put-in parking area is a small dirt/gravel area at the intersection of N. Main and Whitewater Lane. Please do not block the lane for local traffic. If you check out the Google Maps link in the Nescopeck Good Friday event link at the end of this message you will see the area I’m talking about at the intersection of those two roads, even tho the pin is shown further back Whitewater Lane.
