    Hey Everybody,

Just a reminder that the Lower Yough First Timer’s Weekend is coming up on the weekend of August 19th and 20th. Please contact me ASAP if you are interested in attending as I will have to secure river permits several weeks before the trip. The trip is designed for capable paddlers that want to learn the lines on the Lower Yough. First-timers and Yough Veterans alike are welcome. In order to participate, you should be very comfortable in class-3 water. If you would like additional input as to your readiness to take on the Lower Yough, feel free to reach out to me.

We will be running the river both Saturday and Sunday for first-timers. Yough veterans are welcome to join me for a Friday paddle as well.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the very first First Timers trip ! I look forward to hearing from you !

Thanks for posting Tim. I’m linking the Events Calendar info here below just as an FYI. Also changing dates online to include Sunday from your info above.

Thanks Bart. Right now, you are my only confirmed participant….and my entire safety committee ! I have one other “definite maybe”. Hopefully, interest will pick up in the next few days. Luckily, there are still plenty of permits available, at least at this moment. Keeping fingers crossed for more folks joining.

Correction Bart: Since you are tentative, that makes you my only semi-confirmed participant. Still hoping for a last-minute rush…..and looking forward to it.

Unfortunately, due to extreme lack of interest, I have decided to cancel the First Timer’s trip for this year. I literally have one definite participant, so I have called it off and made other plans for next weekend.

It is disappointing that the turn-out was so low for what would have been the 20th anniversary of the very first First Timer’s trip, but I understand how busy life can be. I’m extremely busy myself right now, so I can certainly relate. I also realize that a trip to the Yough is no small commitment of time and/or gas money ! Perhaps next year will work out better for everyone.

Just FYI, there is a possibility that I will planning another trip out there in October with a few people from Northeast PA Kayak School. If that happens, anyone is welcome to join in and I will post it on the message board. Sorry that the scheduled trip didn’t work out for this year, but I hope to see you all on the water very soon.

      Thanks,
      Tim

      Hi Tim,

I just got on here to see if I could still sign up. I am interested in going when a trip is put together. I will be a second timer! I’ll keep an eye out here.
