      Hi Rick,

I am interested and plan to attend. Please keep me updated on plans as we get closer. This is my first time for this trip. How and when do we meet up for travel and put in? Are there any other event logistics I should be aware of.

      Thanks,
      Dale Horst

      Dale,

The creek is currently at runnable levels. It was up to 20-24″ in the past week or so with the recent heavy rains, and today was around 11″ with more rain coming tomorrow. Minimal runnable level is around 2″, so with a little rain over the next week the level should stay up and the trip should be a go.

I’m coming out of Gratz and get on I-81 at exit 112(Hegins exit). I usually don’t carpool from that point with anyone, but have met some on occasion, to drive the extra 30 minutes from that point up I-81 to exit 145(West Hazleton exit). If there are others, and there usually are, coming out of the Harrisburg area there should be carpooling opportunities. If someone chimes in I’m sure they will give meeting places and times. I expect to start seeing people post early next week about going along.

If you want to get an estimate of drive time use Sybertsville, PA as your destination. I’ve added a Google Maps link in the events calendar. Follow the link in the original posting above to the event listing on the events calendar to get a good visual map of the location of the put-in.

Directions to the put-in. Take exit 145 off I-81. Coming from the north on I-81, turn left at the light onto route 93 west heading toward Conyngham. You will go three lights on route 93(about 2 miles) to a slight left turn onto N. Main Street. Continue on N. Main St. and you will cross the creek in about 1 mile. The put-in parking area is a small dirt/gravel area at the intersection of N. Main and Whitewater Lane. Please do not block the lane for local traffic. If you check out the Google Maps link you will see the area I’m talking about at the intersection of those two roads, even tho the pin is shown further back Whitewater Lane.

I’ll start to post levels, as I get them, next week. There is a Face Book page (The Nesky Page) where paddlers post observed levels when they get there to paddle. That page is the best source to get current observed levels on the stick gauge at the put-in.

      Rick,

I’d like to plan to meet on Friday at 10:30 for anyone expecting to join in. Let me know.

The Nescopeck it currently running around 12″. I expect about 10″ tomorrow(Tuesday). Right now I exect water levels should hold above minimum (2″) for Friday.

If I get level reports that it is dropping below that for Friday I’ll post.
