ParticipantI am watching the Shermans Creek water levels and will also check it out prior to the trip to make sure it is runnable. There is a possibility that I will need to move the starting point to Dellville. I will post another update closer to the trip day. Lisa

ParticipantHurray for the rain! According to the predictor, we http://annedickson.co.uk/?p=30 should have enough water to do the upper section of Shermans Creek. If the level is above 2.4, we will meet at the Enslow Covered Bridge on Adams Grove Rd which is 1.5 miles past Andersonburg on Route 274 heading west. The bridge is a mile down Adams Grove Rd. We’ll meet at 10:00 ready to shuttle at 10:30. We should be on the water at about 11:00 and the trip takes about 3.5 hours with a stop for lunch/leg stretch. The take out is near Paradise Stream Campground on Couchtown Rd at Adairs covered bridge. Please plan for the cool weather and have some extra clothes in case you get wet. There will be at least 1 portage around a low head dam which will probably be muddy. If the level is lower than 2.4, we will meet at the Dellville Bridge near Duncannon instead and I will post directions to that location on Saturday. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Adams+Grove+Rd,+Blain,+PA+17006/@40.3342468,-77.4984893,15z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x89c93e94138ddea1:0x3b97c15203820e85?hl=en-US

ParticipantThe creek is at 5′ today. It should be at 3′ tomorrow which should be a great level for the Enslow Bridge putin. I will post more tonight with verification.

ParticipantThe trip is ON! There are some strainers to stay away from. Also, a few Class 1 waves/drops. Open boaters will probably get wet. We both wore our dry gear and I used my skirt. There are a number of curves and slots that you will need to be able to steer your boat through. If you are a brand new boater (or only have a Rec boat/sit-on-top), I would recommend going another day/trip when the water isn’t as pushy and cold. There will be 2 portages including the one where the road crosses through the creek and be prepared to get your feet wet/muddy. For you surfing junkies there are at least 2 great play spots along the trip. See you tomorrow between 10 – 10:30. It is going to be chilly again tomorrow so wear a warm layer. Bring lunch and drink too. Call Lisa if lost, 717 713 5562.

ParticipantThe day started out cool and drizzly but ended up warm with sun. We had a total of 11 paddlers. Some got wetter than others but what happens on the creek-stays on the creek. The water was up so there was no worry about scratching our precious boats. Here is a link to the CCGH Facebook page with some pictures from the day’s festivities. Thank you Bart for the much in demand peanut butter brownies. You the best!! 🙂 Lisa
