I intend on arriving Friday around noon, or before, to set up a tent and unload gear, etc. I’m sure I won’t be the only one of our group with that same plan.
We’ll organize a Friday mid-afternoon run starting with a shuttle up to the ball field and paddle back to Greenhouse Park. If you plan to be there for Friday afternoon please let me know.
We’ll plan for a run again mid-morning on Saturday, organizing the shuttle up to the ball field planning on leaving Greenhouse Park ~10-ish.
Sunday will be whatever you like. Some may pack it in and head home, while others will no doubt get in another run before heading home later in the day.
CCGH has once again reserved pavilion p-4 at Greenhouse Park. This is for anyone, CCGH members or not. I don’t care who you are, or what club you are affiliated with. If we have room, and you are willing to throw in a few bucks to help out with the cost, please come join us. Any amount over the $40 it costs to rent the pavilion will be donated back to CCGH.
Last year we organized a pot luck dinner for the evening meal on Saturday, after the paddling was done and everyone is cleaned up and before the bands get rolling on Saturday night. We had a good group of people bring lots of stuff and everyone had a great meal together. So if you want to join in on a pot luck meal again this year please let me know, and what you may bring. I’ll try to coordinate that by keeping a list of people and what they intend to bring in the original messageboard post(above) so everyone can look and see what’s coming to dinner Saturday evening.

Add Lisa & Bart for the entire weekend. We plan to be there Friday before noon to try the Blackfly on the wave before our run.
Lasagna for Saturday and something for desert in the DO.
For those tenting it, I will have something to share for Friday night supper and Saturday morning breakfast. And probably late night desert Friday.
Anyone not attending this is missing out on a really great relaxed 3 days of paddling. Even if you don’t feel comfortable for the gorge, you can always do the run from the end of the gorge back to the campsite. Simple read-n-run with play spots depending on the water level.
If you have never been there, they have food & drink (alcohol) available onsite, so all you need is a boat & tent or car to sleep in.
BTW, if someone doesn’t want to supply food for Saturday night, they can bring plates, paper towels & plastic wear. It will be a big help for the Saturday night meal.
Dan & Cherri, will you be bringing the jello shooters and grapes for the rodeo???

Bart,
Putting you and Lisa on the List. Great plug for this event. It’s a great venue and loads of fun. I forgot all about the rodeo jello shots game that went on last year. LOL !

Cheri and I will get there around 10 on Friday morning with the party wagon. We’ll boat Friday and Saturday for sure. We will make brats, chicken, corn on the cob and potatoes. We have it down now and fed 10 people with leftovers a few weeks ago.
We’ll also have Jello Shots for “Shots for Swims” at the rodeo, peanuts to throw at the Supper’s, and REAL strawberry moonshine for dessert!

Will be arriving Friday morning with Jesse Peters. It will be the first Rendezvous for both of us. Both of us will be wanting to paddle Fri, Sat, and Sun. Can’t wait! Bringing Cheesecake cupcakes for pot luck.

I believe Chris Carter & Bob Glenn will be joining us too!
Does anyone have a fire pit that is on a stand that will not leave any burn marks or anything? Boy scouts will be selling firewood so if it gets cold…

I will be heading up Friday night at this time, I someone could save me some tent space. It will be my first time on the Stony, as I like to live life on the edge or dumb not really sure. I will be paddeling on Saturday, possibly on Sunday if anyone makes another trip. I think I will pick up some fresh kielbasy for the potluck. Dan

Dan,
I’m sure there will be people paddling Sunday. Sunday is a slightly less crowded day on the river than what Saturday will be.
Oh .. BTW … there is no ‘e’ in Stony. 😉 -

Bart,
I have a couple dozen heavy duty plates & bowls. A few dozen nice heavy plastic forks. And a lot of plastic spoons, waxed paper cups and styro coffee cups. Some napkins too. I’ll bring them along for Saturday evening pot luck meal.
If someone is wanting to bring something … so far I see no snack type stuff (chips, pretzels, corn chips, etc.) and nothing green (raw veggies or some other sort of veggie based items) of any kind yet on the list. Also nothing fruity (Fruit salad, raw fruit, etc.)

Rick,
I will be coming out early enough on Friday to do the run. I also plan to paddle Sat. but need to leave too early Sun. for an obligation back here, to do a run.
I was moaning about the lack of fruit and veg to Bart, so I will bring cut up watermelon (without liquor added) and grapes.
This will be my first Rendezvous and I’ve only run Stony twice so I’m hoping for some guidance on the harder rapids.Lydia

Dan,
I’m not sure they can be considered fruit. 😉

I love a good, sunny, warm Stonyfest forecast …
http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/tire-hill-pa/15959/daily-weather-forecast/2125830?day=6Looks like sunny and mid to upper 70’s all 3 days.
Doesn’t get much better than that. -

I will be up Friday afternoon after I get off work, so I’ll be up later in the afternoon on Friday. Not figuring I will be up in time for Fridays river run. Will probably break out my play boat and hit the wave some though. Saturday I will be running the river for sure. Sundays river run will depend on how I’m feeling since I’m still recovering from being sick. Jim is coming along but isn’t going to be running the river. Open to suggestions for things he can do in the area while I’m running the river. As for the pot luck Saturday night anything I was thinking about making is already on the list, any suggestions on what you guys want or need? 😉

Jim can be our “shuttle bunny”. You can bring your pleasant personality and witty charm!!! I think there are a few state parks with hiking & biking within an hours drive.

I think I’ll bring appeteizers like salsa, chips, and homemade pepper jam dip. I seem to remember the natives getting restless before dinner last year. I’m going to talk to Jim more this week about what he wants to do but he can probably be persuaded to shuttle. He’s new to this kayaking/boating life of mine. I’m gradually pulling him in though. LOL. 😉

Megan … There are probably things coming that aren’t even on that list. With the number of people I think we’re going to have waaaaay too much food.

I’m heading up on Friday morning so I can run on all three days. I’m bringing my canoe along with the Fun so I can run it once.
I’ll bring salsa, chips and cheese.

Just an FYI for any really early arrivers on(Thurs?) Friday. Dan Burkett & Bart Richwine are going to be bringing trailers. Please make sure to leave the two ends(the ends toward the river and towards the paved road-route 403) of the pavilion open until they arrive. They will be setting up on either ends of the pavilion, basically extending the pavilion shade with their roll out canopies. Any other grassy areas around the other sides of the pavilion are open to park vehicles or set up tents, as well as the grassy areas adjacent to the pavilion across the gravel roads on either side of the pavilion. This has been your public service announcement for the day .. thank you .. that is all. See you all this weekend.

It was another great weekend at the Rendezvous. Decent weather and lots of good friends joined us at the CCGH pavilion. Little bit of rain Friday night but nothing to affect river levels. Temps were cooler than expected but nothing too extreme.
Had a group of about 19 on Friday afternoon. At least 2 first timers made their PFDs of the Canyon and Carpenters Park sections of the Stonycreek River. We had numerous swims(by my count 9) that day spread out over 4 different people. I personally chalked up another swim on the Canyon section. This river has served up most of my recent swims, but this river is worth it.
Saturday we again had a good sized group of about 16 boaters. We had about 5 swims that day. 4 of those coming at the same time at the same spot, in a rapid called ‘the wall’. It was good to get all those out of the way at once. LOL !!
Saturday evening was the pot luck dinner. This was the second year for this and everyone brought lots of food and no one went away hungry. Many good things to eat and drink, thanks to all who participated. I think one of the highlights was Bart’s dutch oven baked pineapple upside down cake.
I packed up Sunday morning and headed home before noon, but many organized a Sunday paddle and got one last run in on the Canyon section before coming back to Greenhouse Park to pack it in and head home.
If you’ve never attended a festival type paddling event, but have thought at all about getting to one, this is definitely the one to start out with. I have only ever attended this one, but many say it’s one of the best, if not THE best paddling festival. So, mark the calendar for next year and plan to come out and join in the fun. I would bet once you do you’ll be a regular. I know this has been at least my 6th year in a row for this great annual happening.
