One of the club initiatives this year is to get more involved in philanthropic activities. To that end we have decided to do what we can to help out Harrisburg Inner City Outings with their mission to provide opportunities for urban youth and adults to explore, enjoy and protect the natural world. HICO is seeking volunteers to paddle along on their May 21st outing on the Conodoguinet Creek. Below are the details that have been provided to us:
Deborah Rudy, Chair Person, Harrisburg Inner City Outings emailed me the following:
We need some adult paddlers next Saturday, May 21st, on a Conodoguinet Creek paddle. We have 4 leaders who cannot attend and need a few more experienced paddlers..
Kids will be outfitted and driven to the put-in by Steve O’s Susquehanna Outfitters. We meet at the school at 9:30am; leave the school at 9:45am; returning at 4pm. There will be 20 middle school age youth. The paddle will start at Acri Meadow Park, lunch at Ridley Park, take out at either West Fairview (if the Susquehanna is too high) or paddle through to Steve’s home base if time. Anyone in the Canoe Club who is interested in paddling along can reply to ICO Leader Michael Horgan (copied on this email) who is organizing the outing.
Thanks in advance,
If you would like to help out please email Michael Horgan at email@example.com for more information.
