Karen TrumpParticipant
Oh no. My tandem canoe partner, Scott, woke up sick this morning. I truly apologize that I am unable to lead the trip on my own. It has been too long since we have done this stretch of water for me to fly solo as trip leader.
My sincere apologies. We are unable to commit to a reschedule date at this time.
Karen
Karen TrumpParticipantYeah. Mother nature is with us! Hope to see you at Howe Township boat launch at 10:00 am on Sunday, July 17th. The entrance to the boat launch is downstream from the launch and easy to miss. My best attempt at a description is the next left (heading west on Juniata Pkwy) right after 186 Juniata Pkwy E, Newport, PA 17074.
Please let me know if you plan to join.
KarenKaren TrumpParticipantWe plan to put in at Howe Township Boat launch and take out at Amity Hall Boat Launch. Both spots are Pa. Fish and Boat launches so launch permits are required or take the chance of a fine. The club requires that PFDs be worn. It is roughly an 8 mile trip with a lunch stop. Participants often bring fishing gear. This is normally a fun novice run with Class I ripples but we may not have enough water to run the trip. If it is a ‘go’, we will meet at Howe Township at 10:00 am on Sunday, July 17th and run the shuttle to Amity Hall with the intent of leaving most of the cars at the take out.
I will make the decision early Saturday morning based on the predicted water level at the Newport gauge and post accordingly. Please let me know if you plan to join.

Karen TrumpParticipantSad to say that I have to cancel this year.

Karen TrumpParticipantI will be joining for the first week only, sharing site 063 at Highlands Hammock SP with Vern, and currently travelling solo with tentative plans to extend the return trip to visit friends and sightsee.

June 26, 2018 at 7:18 am in reply to: Potomac River ‘Camping’ Weekend – Friday thru Sunday – Jun 29 thru Jul 1, 2018 #3288Karen TrumpParticipantScott and I have decided to cancel the trip. It wasn’t an easy decision but the predicted rainfall at Paw Paw on Wednesday/Thursday and the already high water level did us in.
0 for 2 this year 🙁
June 18, 2018 at 6:50 pm in reply to: Potomac River ‘Camping’ Weekend – Friday thru Sunday – Jun 29 thru Jul 1, 2018 #3249Karen TrumpParticipantThe trip is from Paw Paw, WV to Little Orleans, MD.
About 20 miles stretched over three days so a very lazy pace. I don’t think any of the ledges even qualify as Class I. Lunches along the river, swimming, fishing, water fights, etc…
A West Virginia or Maryland license is required for fishing.Friday, June 29
8:00 Breakfast in Hancock, Md at Park-n-Dine and head to the river. It is about 50 miles to the Paw Paw WV public boat ramp. The shuttle details depend on how many people are going so please still plan on meeting at the Diner by 9:00 for those skipping breakfast.
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.53792,-78.4547436,17zWe are camping at the hiker/biker campsites between the C&O canal and the Potomac. Sorrel Ridge on Saturday and Devil’s Alley on Sunday. All the gear is taken in the boats. There is no access to a car along the way. It is not completely primitive camping though. There is a picnic table, fire pit, water pump, and outdoor toilet at each site.
http://www.cocanal.com/along-the-way/2013/05/10/hikerbiker-campsites-an-overview/We arrive at the camp sites mid afternoon with plenty of time to set up and explore. Typically back on the river the following morning between 9 and 10. No alarm clocks!!
Sunday, July 1
Noon – Arrive Little Orleans take-out. We sometimes stop at Bills after the shuttle before saying goodbye.Hope you can make it. The more the merrier 🙂

(C) 717-201-9173Karen TrumpParticipantThis trip is cancelled. The predicted water level at the Point of Rocks, Md gauge is too high for a Class I+ trip. I will post on the pick up trips if it gets rescheduled.
Karen TrumpParticipantThis trip is cancelled. The predicted water level at the Sharpsburg, Md gauge is too high for a Class I+ trip. I will post on the pick up trips if it gets rescheduled.
Karen TrumpParticipantThe water level at the Sharpsburg, Md gauge is still too high but I expect it to drop enough to run the trip by the 3rd.
Meet at Devil’s Backbone park near Boonsboro, Md. at 10:30. We will shuttle to the take out below the Burnside Bridge in the national battlefield and should be on the river by 11:30. This is about an 8 mile Class I trip with some fun riffles and small ledges. There is a small dam near the takeout with a chute that is manageable for beginners. We should be off the river between 3 and 4.
Packed lunch and water is suggested. PFDs are a must.
10:30 meet at Put-In
Devil’s Backbone Park is located along Route #68 near Lappan’s Crossroads. To access the park from the Sharpsburg Pike, Route #65, turn left at Lappan’s Crossroads and continue approximately one and one-half miles on Route #68 toward Boonsboro. The park is on the left. Please let us know if you will be joining us and a cell number if available.

We will meet at the Brunswick Boat ramp at 10:00.

http://goo.gl/maps/bhYm7If you would like to caravan with us, we will be leaving Baker’s Diner in Dillsburg at 8:30. Scott and I plan to get to Bakers earlier for breakfast.
The biking shuttle part of the day has been cancelled. We will run the car shuttle to Nolands Ferry and should be on around 11:00. Lunch and water are suggested. PFDs are a must. This is a 10 mile, mostly flat water trip with a few ledges that are manageable for novice paddlers.
Consider staying overnight at Greenbrier state park and joining us on the Antietam Creek on Sunday. Please let us know if/where you will be joining us and a cell number if available.

Karen TrumpParticipantWe are paddling from Amity Hall on the Juniata to Fort Hunter on the Susquehanna. Both put-in and take-out are PFBC launches so either boat registration or launch permits are required.
Meet at the put-in at 9:30 Saturday morning.
Amity Hall PFBC launch
53 River Rd, Duncannon, PALunch and water are recommended. Life jackets are a must.
