See you at the Put-in.
Yellow Breeches is at 4.92 ft., but dropping. It will be a fast ride!
So, Neil, Phil, & I checked it out Saturday at 4.38ft. Clear enough, except for the stone arch bridge between Simpson park & McCormick Rd. The right 2 arches are completely blocked, the next one is partially blocked, with a twist right turn required, and the far left one is partially blocked, with a drop that sends you into the left wall. A water level change could make them more dangerous. Inexperienced paddlers should take out at Simpson Park. Time for the run yesterday was 1hr to McCormick Rd. And 2 hrs to Lower Allen Park. The stone arch bridge is not portagable – land is posted & there are fences. With rain predicted today, if the level goes over 5ft., then you may not be able to get under the Rt 114 bridge near the end.
Chris – I will be attending Week 3 – staying at Ethel’s site in Collier-Seminole.
The Club boats just went up for sale, and the Zens are good boats, although not hard core creekers.January 30, 2018 at 11:01 am in reply to: South Middleton Kayak Class – Monday thru Thursday – April 2-5. #2812
This class is like a Level 1 Introduction to Kayaking class, but also provides the opportunity to learn, or start learning, the Kayak roll if that interests you.
SOLD!December 31, 2017 at 4:20 pm in reply to: Yellow Breeches ‘New Year’s Day’ Paddle – Monday – January 1, 2018 #2713
In order to not break the tradition, the New Years Day Paddle is on!! Due to the extremely cold weather, we are only paddling from the Covered Bridge at Messiah College to Simpson Park. Please make sure your skills and boat selection are such that you will not be swimming – it could be life threatening due to Cold Shock or Hypothermia. Bring a Dry Bag with a change of clothes just in case. We’ll meet at the Covered Bridge at 11:00am. Please be prompt and ready to run shuttle and paddle. Any standing around time or shuttle waiting time will be very cold.September 19, 2017 at 10:56 pm in reply to: Gauley and New Rivers – Friday thru Monday – September 29 – October 2, 2017 #2576
Neil – I’m planning to go on this – May stay at a motel if the weather is bad – or if I’m the only camper.September 12, 2017 at 6:01 pm in reply to: Yellow Breeches Creek – Sunday – September 17, 2017 #2556
This is the Follow-up trip to the Saturday Level 1 Kayak Class, but is open to all Club members. We’ll meet at the Messiah College Covered Bridge at 9:30am. If for some reason they’re closed to parking there, we’ll use the alternate Put-in on the dirt Rd. under Route 15, off Gettysburg Rd. POC is Vern Graham
Donna, Depending on your skill level, and the water level at the time, different sections of the Lehigh River near Jim Thorpe are beautiful in the Fall.

We’ll have to be early birds due to the Bike Race going thru town (See below), so lets meet at 8:30 in White Haven – so we can run the shuttle before 9am. If you need more time to get ready, please get there earlier. Let me know if you plan to join us.
TRAFFIC ADVISORY: August 13, 2017, REV3 Triathlon race will be crossing into White Haven from East Side Borough, making a right turn onto Main Street, going to the end and making a right turn on Towanda Street then out to the Francis Walter Dam. This is a bicycle race with almost 400 riders. They will be spaced out as they come thru town. There will be officers at the intersection to assist with traffic and the bicyclists safety. They are expected to ride thru town 9am thru 11:30am
Hey Bart – The link doesn’t work, and Judie is really disappointed. 🙁July 14, 2017 at 10:41 am in reply to: Lehigh River – Glen Onoko to Weissport – Sunday – July 23, 2018 #2373
This is the Follow-up trip for the Level 2 Canoe Class on Saturday. It is open to all Club members. Plan to meet at Glen Onoko at 10am. This section of the Lehigh is fairly mild, but the river is wide, and there are a couple rapids where rescues are difficult. Floatation in both Canoes and Kayaks is required, as is a Helmet. PFDs are to be worn at all times.
Thanks for asking Jonathan. Price is $850
